Responsibility Against Time.

"Faruqi, you ada minat tak nak pergi Partec training? Tahun ni diorang buat di Bangkok"

I responded with a grin. Frank, our team leader asked me the question after 2 months I returned from Italy. "Another training?" I whispered to my ears. Few questions came crossed my mind:

1. I'm gonna be a main engineer for ELISA team after Raya holiday. Another training for Hematology?
2. Our company not started to put Partec into market. Means, almost no chance to practice and I may have problems to get familiar with the instrument. Am I capable for that?

"Boleh bagi masa lagi? I nak fikir dulu la"

It is not easy. But this is the nature of our job. As engineer, taking challenge is a must. But I must measure the risk accordingly. Hematology is not new to me. I attended the Horiba training held in Bangkok last few months. Frank put me as the 3rd engineer in Hematology. But, after few incidents happened lately, I was appointed to be the main engineer for ELISA team. This is an accident.

Me and my trainer, Mr. Nattapong during Horiba training, Bangkok Nov 2012

Lets look at the bright side. This would be a good chance for me to gain more experience and of course it brings more value into my career vitae. This is coincidence.

On the other hand, we (engineers) always talk about reputation. How good the engineer lessen the downtime of any instrument? How many breakdown per year? and how often the service call per instrument came in. Of course it has tolerance on each case because few accounts are troublesome. It may due to the unit's workload, user's mishandling, or other unseen (non-mechanical) issues.

Last week, I got a call from office to confirm my registration for Partec training. I filled the training form and submitted. Bangkok, we meet again.

In this situation, I feels the time flies seems so slow but my responsibilities multiplied damn fast. This is just a matter of job, career, and profession. After all, this is really nothing. Because as a human being, responsibility against time, they are directly proportional.
